Tatoosh Island is located on the northwest tip of the Olympic Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Strait of Juan de Fuca. During low tide, 6 trillion gallons of water flow out of Puget Sound and the Strait of Georgia through the Strait of Juan de Fuca and surge against the Pacific waters, creating a standing wave between the island and the mainland.
