About Miritish Studio & Gallery

Miritish Studio and Gallery is located in Salida, Colorado, in the midst of Colorado’s majestic Rocky Mountains. Dan formally established the business when he finished construction of a 15’x30′ studio in the east half of his double garage. With plenty of wall space, the studio serves a second function as a gallery to showcase his latest paintings.

Dan chose the name ‘Miritish’ to mirror the studio’s location. ‘Mir’ is Russian for peace (e.g., ‘Voyna i Mir‘: War and Peace) and ’tish’, a sound a mother might use to hush and reassure her baby, similar to English ‘Shhh…’. Thus ‘Mir i Tish’, for ‘Peace and Quiet’. (Incidentally, ‘Mir’ also means ‘world’ in Russian, so you might have ‘Mir v mirye,’ for ‘World Peace.’ We could only hope.

About Dan Bishop

Dan Bishop retired from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, where he completed his career teaching college chemistry. At that point in his life, he decided to give his right brain a rest and began filling his days with writing and painting. Beginning, as many do, with watercolors, he soon shifted to working in soft pastels which give the artist greater control over the medium. Although he enjoyed working with pastels, he eventually became allergic to chalk dust, and shifted to acrylics, his current medium of choice.

Dan is also a self-published author, having created the Saturn Accords, a science fiction trilogy consisting of Saturn Conundrum, Saturn Rendezvous, and Saturn Alliance.
