Nadezhda Ivanovna of Donetsk
This monochrome pastel was inspired by a photograph in the New York Times in 2014 when Russia's mercenary troops first invaded Ukraine. The horror, uncertainty, and utter helplessness the citizens of Donetsk must have felt can clearly be seen on this babushka's face.
